Everyone lies.

A book I picked up on a recommendation

One of us is lying 어느 정도 뺐다고 생각했는데 이렇게 다시 도파민에 물들게 되어버렸다😭To lure a friend who'd never read a book into the world of reading, I talked them into doing a book swap (≖ᴗ≖✿) I could recommend books to my friend, but for our swap I needed to pick something I hadn't read either, so I asked the book geniuses. (Thank you, everyone🫶) The recommendations came pouring in, but I couldn't find a single one at my local bookstore. Tragic. The next day, I found three at another bookstore. I thought my friend was exaggerating about never having read a book, but apparently they'd really never read anything besides textbooks, so I picked the thinnest one. It's available on Millie's Library, though... (。•́︿•̀。) Since I prefer ebooks anyway, I hesitated... but I decided to think of it as a gift for my friend + a way to tempt them with the quickest possible read?! So I bought it!! After One of Us Is Lying, I'd been trying to wean myself off that mystery-thriller-suspense dopamine... I thought I'd made some progress, but here I am, hooked all over again😭

Mysteries, thrillers, suspense... Dopamine... There's no escape...

작가가 뇌 손상 전문의이고(하우스메이드 작가) 몰랐는데 넷플릭스 영화로 나올 예정이라고 하니 다들 츄라이해보셔도 좋을 듯한 책!!📕 (+추천받지 않았더라면 절대 시도도 안 했을거 같은 표지,,)Never Lie is fun to read on your own and goes down in no time, but I absolutely recommend it for a book swap! There's so much to leave snarky comments about... and yes, I drew poop in it again... I love open endings, so as I read, I wondered, could this one end up open-ended...? (The story keeps going right up to the very end.) But everything gets tied up very, very neatly, which I think a lot of people will like. This goes for most mysteries and thrillers, but rereading it once you know everything that happens should be a whole different kind of fun, so I'm already looking forward to reading it again later‼️ The characters got so many snarky comments because they were frustrating or made me angry, but now that I know the story and can understand them, I think it'd be fun to read it again and add another round of comments! There's one character the book keeps pointing to as the culprit, and it's so obvious that I started thinking it couldn't be them—but then it pushes so hard that I wondered, wait, maybe it is... That was fun. ➡️ Whether that character really did it is a secret!!🤫 I tried to leave lots of comments to get my friend as hooked as possible, but I think there might've been a few stretches where I got a little too absorbed and forgot to comment...!? Anyway, for a book I supposedly bought for my friend, I certainly enjoyed myself! The author is a doctor specializing in brain injuries (she also wrote The Housemaid), and I hadn't known this, but apparently it's going to be a Netflix movie, so this might be one for everyone to give a try!!📕 (+If it hadn't been recommended to me, that cover would've kept me from ever giving it a chance...)
